What is Ante-Communion? The prefix ante- means 'before,' so the service of Ante-communion is the Service of Holy Communion before, or leading up to and excluding, the actual celebration of Communion. We are briefly extending our pandemic fast in order to fully celebrate our return to Holy Eucharist services in conjunction with the most holy day of Easter.

Join us for an in-person, outdoor celebration of Ante-Communion II with homily at St. Thomas à Becket Episcopal Church in Morgantown, WV at 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 27 (due to rain forecasted on Sunday).

The annual Soup and Bread Luncheon is changing in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, it will be a drive-thru event. Cold soup will be served in takeout containers, there will be no ceramic bowls this year, and there will be an online auction. The ticket price is reduced to $15 this year, and tickets are available at ebmon.org.

Our Lenten Confirmation Class will resume this year on Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm on Zoom throughout Lent (Feb. 21, 28, Mar. 7, 14, 21). Lent is the traditional time of preparation for joining the church, dating back to the early followers, and we’ll use these five sessions to explore our unique tradition in the Anglican Communion: our history, theology, and practice. It is suitable for all for a refresher or casual interest, or for formal preparation to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church the next time our bishop visits us.

At 7:00 pm on February 17 we will again gather on Zoom for an Ash Wednesday service. You may gather up your own materials for the imposition of ashes, from burning old palm branches to fireplace soot to a bit of mud from the backyard.

Please join us for Zoom-hosted Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on February 16 at 6:00 pm! John Beall has offered to send out his recipes and each household can prepare their own meal while coming together online.

Rebecca and Jay Krehbiel are expecting a baby on February 21! They are already well-stocked with baby items, but would welcome a shower of children's books from their St. Thomas à Becket family. To participate in this shower, let Linda Durfee know what favorite baby or children's book you plan to purchase—this will help us avoid duplication of titles. Please deliver your wrapped gift to the church office by Sunday, February 14.

Because our county continues to be Red-level on the pandemic map, we will have to celebrate Christmas online this year. We will have communion kits available for pick-up on Sunday, December 20 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.

On Sunday, December 20 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, you can pick up a personal communion kit at the church, to be used for our Christmas Eve Holy Eucharist service (which will be celebrated online).

Saturday, December 12 at 10:00 am we’ll meet on Zoom in place of our annual Altar Guild Christmas Brunch. While we miss our face-to-face food fare and mimosas, at least rain, snow and/or icy conditions won’t be an issue!
